About Max Margles
Max Margles
December 15, 1929 – August 27, 2004
Max Margles graduated from McGill University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering, with Honours. His career included consulting, structural design, sales and project management. Before taking early retirement, his last jobs as Director of Construction/Project Control Officer for three landmark buildings (The Industrial Alliance Tower, La Maison des Cooperants, and 1250 Rene Levesque West) helped shape the face of downtown Montreal.
With an I.Q. of 144, he was way above average in intelligence. In additional to his love of reading, he was a dedicated and proficient skier and horseback rider. His interests were many and varied. He taught himself how to fix a watch, work with stained glass and soapstone. Whatever he did was meticulous and exacting. Cooking and flambéing at the dinner table were always a big success. He wished for peace in Israel, justice, honesty, loyalty, fairness and equality in family life, business, actually in all phases of life.
Hopefully, these tidbits of information will give you a snapshot/impression of the man in whose memory this wonderful Children’s Library has been named.
