What is cloudLibrary?
cloudLibrary is the new platform that will host the Library’s English collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks for adults, teens and children.
Why is the library switching over from OverDrive/Libby to cloudLibrary?
cloudLibrary will give our patrons access to more titles as it allows you to borrow from the available collections of several other libraries in Quebec. You will have access to multiple collections, all in one place while enjoying the same ease of use as with Overdrive, on whichever device you use to read eBook or listen to audiobooks.
Will my OverDrive/Libby’s reading history, loans or holds transfer over to cloudLibrary?
Unfortunately, your reading history, as well as any reservations or holds you have in OverDrive will not carry over to cloudLibrary. Make a note of any reservations you wish to keep, and use the cloudLibrary platform to put in your reservations/holds once access is available.
Can I save my OverDrive/Libby reading history?
Yes, you can export your reading history in Overdrive: How to export your history from your library’s digital collection or the OverDrive app
You can also export your reading timeline in Libby: Exporting and sharing your timeline (libbyapp.com)
Why are there currently so few titles in the cloudLibrary collection?
The majority of the Library collection will be transferred from OverDrive/Libby to cloudLibrary at the end of September. You will also have access to other libraries’ cloudLibrary titles.
Which other library’s digital content will I be able to access?
With cloudLibrary, you will be able to borrow and read available titles from the following libraries: Dollard-des-Ormeaux Public Library, Pointe-Claire Public Library, Beaconsfield Library, Kirkland Public Library and Reginald J. P. Dawson Library.
When will I be able to access other library’s CloudLibrary content?
As of September 1st, you will be able to access other library’s cloudLibrary titles and will have more title options to choose from. This is automatic and you do not need to do anything to see the content from other libraries.
Why can’t I borrow titles in OverDrive/Libby?
This is for your benefit, so you can finish reading any books that you have downloaded before we switch over to cloudLibrary.
I wasn’t able to finish my book before OverDrive/Libby shutdown, what do I do now?
If you were unable to finish your title, please check if the title is available in cloudLibrary. If you do not see it there please email Mearaid Stevenson at [email protected] with the title information and format and we will try to purchase the title in cloudLibrary.
How will I access content from cloudLibrary?
Much like OverDrive/Libby, you can access content from cloudLibrary on the cloudLibrary website, the cloudLibrary app on Apple or Android devices, as well as transfer over e-Books to your Kobo e-reader via Adobe Digital Editions.
