Celebrating 60 Years of Service

For 60 years, the Library has been a place where our community comes together to learn, discover, connect, and grow. From its beginnings to the vibrant library it is today, our story has been shaped by the people who have walked through our doors, borrowed books, attended programs, and made the Library an important part of their lives.

As we celebrate this milestone, we invite you to explore the Library's rich history and discover how it has evolved over the past six decades. Learn about the people, milestones, and moments that have helped shape the Library into the community hub it is today.

Turning Back the Pages to 1966

As part of our anniversary celebrations, we're taking a trip back to 1966. Explore a selection of books that were originally published that same year and discover the stories, ideas, and voices that captured readers' imaginations six decades ago. Whether these titles have become enduring classics or fascinating snapshots of their time, they offer a unique glimpse into the literary world of 1966 and a chance to celebrate the year our library's story began.

Looking Ahead

As the Library enters its seventh decade, the City of Côte Saint-Luc recognizes the contributions of staff, volunteers, partners, and generations of residents who have supported and shaped the institution. The anniversary celebration reflects both a proud history and a continued commitment to innovation, accessibility, and community connection.

“The Library is one of the most important public spaces in our city. For 60 years, it has brought people together, supported learning at every age, and strengthened our sense of community. The feedback I received from the community about our library is always so positive. People use it and appreciate it.” – Mayor David Tordjman

“The Library has always been much more than a building filled with books. For 60 years, it has been a gathering place where residents discover ideas, build connections, and take part in community life. We are proud of what we have built together and excited for what comes next.” — Janine West, Director, Eleanor London Côte Saint-Luc Public Library
